The Fraunhofer Project Group Process Innovation at the Chair Manufacturing and Remanufacturing Technology offers sustainable solutions in the field of manufacturing engineering, resource and energy efficiency and remanufacturing.
Project partners of Fraunhofer in Bayreuth have access to state-of-the-art technical equipment, including electronics and cleanliness laboratory, networked production machinery and machine tools and the learning factory Green Factory Bavaria.

Project: Oberfranken 4.0
Description: The project Oberfranken 4.0 of the University of Bayreuth supports small and medium-sized enterprises in the region of northern Bavaria with services for sustainable development and Industry 4.0 applications for manufacturing and logistics. To intensify know-how transfer from research institutions to companies an Industry 4.0 demonstration factory is implemented at the Chair Manufacturing and Remanufacturing Technology.

Project: empower
Description: The goal of the project “empower” is to develop an interdisciplinary concept for small and medium sized enterprises in Upper Franconia to improve energy efficiency of their production logistics. For this, a software tool for integrated decision support has been developed which is accessible online.

Project: RapidCfC – Development of Rapid Cores for Carbon

Project: Development of CFRP frame structure for helicopters of the ultralight class
Description: The goal of this project is to develop an innovative frame structure for helicopters of the ultralight class based on carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) to accomplish special needs of the aerospace industry, e.g. reduction of weight, reduction of emissions, extension of range, etc.

Project: Development of network-based knowledge transfer to support implementation of a sustainable energy management system to increase energy efficiency in small and medium-sized enterprises
Description: In cooperation with numerous small and medium-sized enterprises a web-based tool for efficient knowledge-transfer, considering the specific requirements of small and medium-sized enterprises, to increase energy efficiency is developed. In this way, the web-based learning concept offers new possibilities for employees of industrial companies to have access to easy-to-use and flexible learning modules. Therefore, knowledge transfer from applied sciences to companies is strengthened.
